When tasked with capturing the intricate details of a major stadium like the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), precision, speed, and experience are essential. This historic site, a cornerstone of Australian sport, demanded nothing less than a comprehensive, digital-first approach to asset management.
The Challenge
With a footprint that spans 9 buildings, including both historic and modern grandstands, the SCG represents a complex mix of architectural eras and asset types. From the iconic Members Stand, dating back to 1878, to the more modern Bradman Stand, capturing this diverse range of assets required a scalable, precise, and rapid data capture process.
Our Approach
Armed with the Ai Assets platform and in partnership with Ontoit, our team set out to digitize the SCG’s asset landscape. In just two weeks, a two-person team captured over 112,000 assets across 9 buildings, creating a comprehensive, digital asset register that included:
Structural Assets: Seats, barriers, and framework elements critical to the stadium’s integrity.
Mechanical and Electrical Systems: From HVAC units to complex lighting arrays.
Fixtures and Fitouts: Everything from concession stands to press boxes.
Key Results
Speed and Scale: 112,000 assets collected in just 14 days – a testament to the efficiency and scalability of our platform.
Safety First: Identification of 1,935 defects and 71 health and safety issues, providing critical insights for ongoing maintenance.
Data-Driven Planning: Delivered a comprehensive CAPEX and OPEX report, giving SCG management the data needed to prioritize repairs, replacements, and long-term budgeting.
The Impact
This project not only provided SCG with a robust digital asset register but also set a benchmark for speed and accuracy in the industry. By digitizing its asset management, SCG gained a clear, real-time view of its infrastructure, empowering data-driven decisions for years to come.
